Health Reports and Citizen鈥檚 Guides/Community Documents

The New Jersey Department of Health (Sexy真人DOH) and the federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) collaborate on Health Assessments and Consultations that attempt to:

  • identify actual and possible human exposure to contaminated sites, and
  • determine the potential health effects those exposures could cause.

March 1998 (published date): Lead and Mercury Exposure Screening of Children in Pompton Lakes [pdf 2m] -- As recommended in the January 1994 Public Health Assessment, the Sexy真人DOH and ATSDR tested children in the Acid Brook area for lead and mercury exposures, and compared them to children living in other parts of Pompton Lakes. The study was conducted in the Summer of 1994.

Toxicological Profiles – Detailed profiles on more than 300 hazardous substances found at contaminated sites. Profiles review studies on individual or related groups of compounds, describe animal and human studies and effects by exposure routes, and provide information on human populations more likely to be exposed, and populations that may have higher risks from exposures.
