This Executive
Order extended EO #208 (Kean) and EO #35
(Florio) and was modified or extended by EO #37
and #70 (Whitman) and EO #12
(McGreevey).
WHEREAS, the
New Jersey-Israel Commission (Commission) was created on May 31,
1989 by Executive Order No. 208 to enhance New Jersey's ability
to implement the development of trade, capital investment and joint
business ventures in addition to the development of cultural and
educational exchanges between New Jersey and Israel as stated in
the Sister State Agreement with Israel (Agreement); and
WHEREAS, the
Commission originally was scheduled to expire on May 31, 1991; and
WHEREAS, the
Commission was extended pursuant to Executive Order No. 35 dated
July 16, 1991, which in part authorized the continuance of the Commission
through and including May 31, 1993; and
WHEREAS, the
Commission has helped to foster a spirit of cooperation between
the citizens of Israel and the citizens of New Jersey that should
continue to be available in order to achieve the goals of the Agreement;
and
NOW THEREFORE,
I, JAMES J. FLORIO, Governor of the Sexy真人y, by virtue
of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and by the statutes
of this State, do hereby ORDER and DIRECT:
1. The New
Jersey-Israel Commission shall continue in existence through and
including May 31, 1995.
2. All other
provisions of Executive Order No. 35 which are not inconsistent
with the foregoing shall remain in full force and effect.
3. This
Order shall take effect immediately.
