In today’s fast paced global economy the demand for detailed and timely labor market data is increasing. State and local officials, in particular, need good local level data in order to make informed decisions. The Local Employment Dynamics (LED) program within the US Census Bureau encourages collaborations between state and federal agencies to bring together datasets in powerful relational databases. The end result is a unique set of Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWIs), such as turnover rates, new hires, and job creation for local areas by industry, age, and sex. The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development is a proud partner in this effort.

The QWI Explorer and Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Data Extraction Tool provide information on Employment for workers in different industries and different age and sex groups, as well as earnings data. These tools also provide dynamic information on the rapidly changing economy, including information on where jobs are being created and eliminated, how much turnover there is in each industry, and long-term trends.
