NEWARK, N.J. 鈥 The historic Van Liew-Suydam House in Franklin Township sets the scene for the horror miniseries Lisey鈥檚 Story, an adaptation of Stephen King鈥檚 novel of the same name. The show concerns a widow who becomes the object of a dangerous stalker, a man obsessed with her husband's work. King wrote the teleplay himself and Pablo Larra铆n directed. Lisey鈥檚 Story premiered on June 4th, and new episodes are being dropped each Friday through July 16th.
King is no stranger to New Jersey, having worked here on several occasions. His other projects filmed in the state include the popular anthology feature Creepshow starring Ted Danson and Leslie Nielsen, some of which was filmed on Island Beach State Park, and Cat鈥檚 Eye with Drew Barrymore, shot partly in Atlantic City. Lisey鈥檚 Story stars Oscar winner Julianne Moore, Clive Owen, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Dane DeHaan. Emmy winner Ron Cephas Jones, who grew up in Paterson, also appears in the series in a supporting role.
鈥淲e are delighted that Lisey鈥檚 Story was filmed at one of the many notable sites that comprise the cultural and historic tapestry that is New Jersey,鈥 said Secretary of State Tahesha Way. 鈥淔ilmmakers continue to be attracted to the amazingly diverse locations and landscapes that the Garden State has to offer.鈥
Two other Apple TV+ shows, Little America and Severance, were also filmed on location here in the past two years. Additional series produced in the Garden State recently include NBC鈥檚 The Enemy Within and Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, CBS鈥 The Equalizer and Ways & Means, HBO鈥檚 The Plot Against America and Hulu鈥檚 Wu Tang Clan: An American Saga.
